It's made with a fast-drying Supplex nylon fabric that's backed with a three-piece, mesh-lined waistband that helps keep the short from slipping away during surprise dunks. The one-button gusseted fly is a new touch, although you can add extra security with the front tie closure at the waist. Patagonia also updated the angled side pocket with a better zipper and a flat key clip that helps keep valuables on your person (or at least in your shorts) throughout the day.
